Vittorio Cretella just completed a 26-year professional journey with Mars, where he was appointed CTO in 2003 and subsequently global CIO in 2013. During his long tenure with the company, Vittorio gained a deep understanding of the CPG industry and retail environment, the diversity of markets and channels across the globe, as well the profound disruption of traditional business models caused by digitization. Vittorio spearheaded numerous waves of digital transformation throughout Mars’ diverse and global business, championing the concept of making data an essential asset for future growth and defining a comprehensive digital strategy across all business dimensions. As CIO, he partnered with marketing and sales leaders to define “Digital Demand” strategic directions, and delivered the technology strategy and capabilities to execute; defined and launched a “Digital Foundation” strategy and architecture to maximize the value of data and agile analytics to enable cross-enterprise digitization; launched a “Digital Workplace” initiative, leading Mars to be an early adopter of cloud based technology to boost productivity and innovation with remote communication and collaboration ways of working and tools. Finally, he drove approach, governance and cybersecurity capabilities for information risk management in the digital age. Vittorio has a long term experience with leading and transforming large, global IT operations, developing talent and capabilities, consolidating and streamlining operations with standardization and consolidation, and adopting Agile and DevOps approaches to increase flexibility and speed. Following his retirement from Mars, Vittorio currently advise and lead organizations on their digital transformation journey with non-executive board of director positions and senior advisory roles.
