Obesity is one of the most common chronic diseases seen in pharmacy practice. It is associated with many comorbid conditions that can increase the patient’s morbidity and mortality risk. The problem is many pharmacists and healthcare professionals are not sure of the best way to approach patients with the condition and determining the optimal evidence-based treatment strategies. In this session, pharmacists will be introduced to the LEARN model of obesity management. This model is designed to help pharmacists engage the person with obesity as well as offer guideline recommended treatments to reduce the impact of this chronic disease. The goal is to provide practical obesity management tips that pharmacists can use in practice immediately.
