Description

There are currently some 13.5 million people in Canada over the age of 50, representing more than one-third of the population, according to Statistics Canada. Flu vaccination is critical for offering protection for these age groups. Underlying medical conditions can put patients over 50 at higher risk for flu-related complications. Vaccination against influenza prevents thousands of illnesses and hospitalizations. Many pharmacies already offer flu clinics for their patients over 65. Featuring vaccination in a younger cohort will prevent even more illness, plus it offers an opportunity for pharmacists to enhance their role as essential healthcare providers.
