Cancer diagnoses can have an intense impact on patients and families. With advancements in cancer screening, asymptomatic patients often receive unexpected diagnoses via routine imaging/check ups. When cancer becomes the focus, patients’ other chronic comorbidities are often left unaddressed. This is where quality of life comes into play. Here, we'll discuss the role of the pharmacist as 'cement,' preventing patients from slipping through the cracks of the healthcare system by focusing on cancer’s collateral damage—chronic disease management and non-cancer related acute concerns.
